This past weekend we had a pop up shop in Santa Barbara and introduced our favorite new artisan to Shop Girl and The Abode, The Swedish brush company, Iris Hantverk.
Iris Hantverk is a brush manufacturing company based in Stockholm Sweden. Every brush is made by hand by visually impaired craftsman. They bring new meaning to the concept of sensitively made by hand. Today Iris Hantverk employees 14 people, 5 of which are visually impaired. Each brush is hand drawn, according to old Swedish traditions. They believe that many people appreciate the quality and feeling of using a hand drawn brush, all of which are made from natural materials.
Here at Girl and the Abode, we strive to be mindful of our purchasing and selective in the items we welcome into our homes. We carry this beautiful line of Swedish brushes in an effort to support our artisans and their crafts throughout the world. Iris Hantverk is a very special company, supplying mindful customers with brushes that will last for years to come.
